Wargaming/roleplaying ideas (Beginning thoughts)
Spending a lot of time thinking about spending time... wargaming! I've got so many ideas flowing in my head for the type of game I want to play and the types of people I think would enjoy the experience.
There's a major war of ideas that stems from the decision to railroad or tailor another's experience or to expect the best from my fellow player's and anticipate they will know what is expected when I speak of 'spirit of the game'. I've got to try to make my ides more linear and to find a patient guinea-pig playtester. Someone who wants the same experience as I and has the long range view necessary to hammer out a best case scenario.
Roleplaying is under similar scrutiny. There has to be a better experience to be had than the constant rule-mongering. It seems to me that the best experiences rely on a childhood desire to play 'Let's Pretend' rather than tedious searching through manuals for how much minutia the player can cram into their head.
Rambling and possibly unclear post, I know, but I'm gonna try and add to it on a more frequent basis and see where this public diary goes.
